A grey, murky morning down at Old Moor in early July produced a couple of Turnstones. After lots of sketches of things barely resembling the species I started to get my eye in a bit! Here's the best one, but the drawing I've used for the pic has ultimately lost 'something'. Field sketching never gets easier, just harder, and I find these birds are HARD! Good job it's fun, then!
The dark, muddy shoreline has ended up looking like a moonscape, rather unintentionally, but I reckon it does add something different to the pic. I do like the composition here, though. It at least looks like the bird's going somewhere!
