Sleeping Beauty

So much for intending to update this blog 'every week' ! Not as easy as I first thought, with birding, sketching and drawing all vying for attention with other commitments, including gigs, festivals and gardening (yawn!) Anyway, it's good to get back in the groove and try to develop my style of art!
This adult Lesser Black-back was drawn after a couple of hours sketching the Old Moor pair. Sadly, one of these has since died from Botulism, I hear. Nasty! Gulls will be gulls, though, and no doubt eat things they shouldn't! I do feel a rather strange connection when looking hard at one particular bird for a while. Suppose it's kinda like getting intimate!
