To keep up with my original intention of a weekly update here's a pic of goosander I conjured up a few months ago. Wildfowl are my staple in winter, and these are great subjects. I particularly like the variety of shapes the drake's head can form, especially with that shaggy nape. Drawn from sketches of birds on the wader scrape at Old Moor last January or February. It was a fairly dank, miserable afternoon and the lovely creamy white tones of the males shone like beacons. I've tried to capture this in the pic, and it's one of my better attempts at trying to capture the ever-changing water surface. Still lots of waders and gulls to sketch before it's time for these again, I reckon!
Cheers
