I've drawn some crap in my time but not literally! The large dark olive 'blob' fighting for attention with this perky character is supposed to be goose droppings! I don't think it was meant to be quite this big, though! I think if it was a 'turd' smaller it would have been more convincing!
Sketched this recently arrived Ringed Plover on a dull, overcast morning at Old Moor. I reckoned the warm tones of the bird's upperparts allied with its black mask would contrast nicely with the muted olive, blown and greyish green tones around it. After helpful discussion with someone who knows what he's doing I'll revert back to cartridge paper from board in a bid to get a more consistent application of colour. All in all, though, I think this is another step a bit nearer to where I want to get.
